Sound like something for you? Check out our Group Travel to Australia!

1. The Proserpine River

The Proserpine River is located near the Whitsundays and Airlie Beach. Australia is known for its abundance of saltwater crocodiles, so it makes sense to head out to see these giant creatures. There are many places to see crocodiles in Australia, but if you want to see them in their natural habitat, the Proserpine River is the best place. As well as crocodile sightings, the area is overgrown with mangrove forest and is home to many other animal species.

2. Canyoning in the Blue Mountains

Experience the spectacular area around the Blue Mountains in a completely different way to the stories you’ve heard from people who have visited.

On a canyoning trip, you’ll experience rappelling down a waterfall, swimming in rivers, jumping off cliffs and hiking in the canyon. You’re guaranteed to have a day full of adventure and will experience the Blue Mountains from a completely different perspective than usual.

There are tours at different levels, so if you want to play Tarzan or just want to challenge yourself, you’re sure to find a tour that suits you.

3. Surfing at Surfers Paradise

It’s pretty much impossible to mention Australia without mentioning surfing.

Australia is known for having some of the best waves to surf, so grab your board and hunt for the perfect wave. At Surfers Paradise, located in the Gold Coast, an hour from the city of Brisbane, there are great opportunities to catch the perfect wave.

Surfers Paradise is a popular location for surf camps, with different levels of instruction, so you’re guaranteed a fun and educational experience. Several surfing competitions are also held every year.

4. Visit Cape Tribulation

Cape Tribulation is where the mighty Daintree Rainforest meets the world’s largest coral reef, the Great Barrier Reef. This amazing place offers a lot of activities for your adventure travel. Whether it’s a tour of the Daintree National Park or a hike up the beach at Cape Tribulation, we recommend making a stop here. However, we don’t recommend swimming on the beach near Cape Tribulation, as there are many saltwater crocodiles in the area.

5. Skydive in Australia

In Australia, you’ll find some of the most beautiful skydiving opportunities. There are many places to skydive, so whether it’s overlooking the Great Barrier Reef or one of the beautiful cities on the east coast? Wherever you choose to skydive on your tour of Australia, you’re guaranteed the adventure of a lifetime. Click below to see 10 things to do during your gap year in Australia.

6. Visit the Australian paradise of the Whitsundays

The Whitsundays consist of 74 tropical islands located off the coast of Airlie Beach. The islands offer tropical forests, the best snorkeling spots in the world and Whitehaven Beach.

Whitehaven Beach is one of the most beautiful beaches in the world and a must-see. Hamilton is the most populated island in the archipelago. On Hamilton you’ll find a number of luxury resorts, as well as the only airport near the Whitsundays.

7. Undara Volcanic National Park

In the National Park you’ll find no less than 164 volcanoes. It is best known for being home to one of the longest lava tunnels in the world. It’s popular to take a guided tour down the tunnels. The national park also has a very atypical accommodation option called Railway Carriage, which is a train carriage converted into a hotel. These are world-class adventure experiences!

8. Bungy jumping near Cairns

Near the world’s oldest rainforest and 15 minutes from Cairns, Australia’s only Bungyjump tower is 50 meters high. From the tower you’ll have an amazing view of Cairns. On site, you can choose one of 16 different ways to take the jump, allowing for the coolest adventure experience in Australia.

9. Fraser Island

The world’s largest sand island, Fraser Island is a must when traveling the east coast of Australia. On Fraser Island you can hike in the rainforest, swim in rainwater lakes, four-wheel drive on the beach and see the famous dingoes that live on the island.

We recommend heading to Indian Head Lookout, the easternmost point on the island, for spectacular views of Fraser Island. The most popular attraction on the island is Lake Mckenzie, a rainwater lake with crystal blue water.

10. Great Barrier Reef

The world’s largest coral reef is undoubtedly a must-visit place on any adventure trip to Australia. The fascinating marine life and beautiful corals of the Great Barrier Reef are well worth the experience.

The best way to experience the Great Barrier Reef is by diving, but you can get a lot out of a snorkeling trip as many of the coral reefs are just below the surface.

Beneath the surface of the Great Barrier Reef, you’ll find an unforgettable world where there are over 1500 different species of fish in all the colors of the world, over 400 different types of coral and 6 different species of sea turtles.
