1. El Nido, Palawan – Philippines
On the Philippine island of Palawan you’ll find the island landscape “El Nido” consisting of no less than 45 different islands in all kinds of geological embellishments.
Duli Beach in the northern part of El Nido has the setting for the perfect beach scene. The two-hour hike to the highest point in El Nido, Taraw Cliff, offers unforgettable views. A sunset stroll on Corong-Corong Beach is the end of the perfect day. El Nido is a true paradise and one of those places in the world where you really wish you could live the rest of your days.

2. What Rong Khun – Thailand
Calling all photographers, this is a must-see.
The white temple in Chiang Rai province looks like something out of a fairytale and is arguably one of the most beautiful in all of Asia. You really need to take your time here and let yourself get lost in this Thai work of art.
The level of detail and finesse used to create this masterpiece is quite admirable. With every step you take, you’ll be more captivated by this artistic marvel. We can’t give you a specific tip for taking the perfect picture, because the truth is, the perfect picture here is the one you save mentally.

3. Kuang Si Falls – Laos
South of the capital Luang Prabang you’ll find this marvel of a waterfall. The water cascades down three tiers and its turquoise water will make you think someone fiddled with the shades in an editing program.
We’ve been to many places in Asia, but this waterfall is at the top of the list because there’s simply nothing else like it. The perfect shot is unmistakable. It’s taken where all the other backpackers are flashing their cameras to get the perfect shot from their tour of Asia. You’ll hardly find a more beautiful, idyllic and picture-worthy waterfall than Kuang Si Falls.
4. Nusa Penida – Indonesia
The number one Instagram spot, there’s no doubt about it.
Just a 45-minute boat ride from Bali, you’ll find the island of Nusa Penida and the world-famous rock landscape of Kelingking, also known as the “T-rex rock”.
Every backpacker’s favorite and arguably one of the most beautiful places in Indonesia. Here, nature shows its best side and spoils you with all kinds of colors in shades you didn’t know were possible. A place like this is the reason why cameras exist.

5. The Red Lotus Sea, Udon Thani – Thailand
Close to the border between Thailand and Cambodia, you’ll find this pink lake that few backpackers know exists, making it a fantastic destination. The lake, with its pink lotus flowers, is in full bloom from December to February. If you arrive early in the morning, you’ll most likely have it all to yourself.
It is also in the morning that the flowers are at their most beautiful and exuberant, as they often close in and fade during the day as the sun’s rays hit the pink lotus petals. The sea of pink flowers is a true feast for the eyes on a trip to Asia.
6. Siquijor Island – Philippines
Whether this is the island Coldplay were referring to when they wrote the song “Paradise” is unknown, but a paradise is exactly what it is. The most famous place on the island also happens to be the most photographed place. This is where we send you on a summer morning in the Philippine tropical landscape.
Cambugahay Falls is the island’s most popular waterfall and you don’t need a higher education to understand that. When something is truly beautiful, it’s universal and understandable to everyone. You’ve probably seen pictures from here before and now it’s your turn to sit on the bamboo raft in front of the falls, or come swinging on a rope from inside the palm trees and land in the turquoise water.

7. Mui Ne Sand Dunes – Vietnam
From beach to desert in five minutes? All you need is a Vietnamese moped and some closed shoes and the desert landscape and Mui Ne Sand Dunes are waiting for you. Massive heaps of scorching hot sand are a short distance from the beach in Mui Ne and as well as being incredibly fun to wander around, it’s quite beautiful.
It’s adventure with a touch of grit and desert with a hint of Egypt. Don’t leave your camera in the sand here, because it will probably burst into flames. Instead, hold it in your hand and shoot away, because there are enough pictures here to last you a lifetime, or at least your tour of Asia.

8. Mount Kelimutu – Indonesia
“Difficult roads often lead to beautiful destinations”
Tucked away deep down south in the Flores Sea, lies the island of Nusa Tenggara Timur and the impressive volcano, Mount Kelimutu. At the top, you’ll get an experience you’re unlikely to get anywhere else in Asia. Namely, the sight of a volcanic crater consisting of three lakes in three different colors.
Trust us, if you thought Kuang Si Falls was turquoise, wait until you see the top of Mount Kelimutu. It’s a long way to get there, and it’s by far the southernmost and most remote point on this list, but if you have the time, energy and courage, the summit of Kelimutu is every backpacker’s dream. It simply doesn’t get any more beautiful.
9. Halong Bay – Vietnam
One of those places that has to be experienced with your own eyes to truly understand it. Sailing around Halong Bay without a care in the world, with only the sound of birds chirping and the feeling of the sun doing its magic. That’s what life is all about, isn’t it?
Here you’re truly surrounded by islands from north, south, east and west and whether the weather forecast is blue skies and bright sunshine or fog and haze, Halong Bay is picture-perfect all day long. You probably won’t leave without taking a picture of every island you see, so you can do the math. (Hint: there are 1,600 islands in Halong Bay).
Vietnam doesn’t appear twice on this list for nothing. We could easily list 10 must-see sights on your trip to Vietnam, and that’s only part of it.
10. Top of Koh Phi Phi – Thailand
The hike to the top of the island of Koh Phi Phi is for all levels and is a sight that everyone should treat themselves to. If the party lasted late into the night, or your head is throbbing a little more than usual, there’s no excuse. Just slip on your shoes and head to the top.
