Mount Batur Hike – Bali

How long is the hike?

It is hard to say, as it varies from person to person. Often it takes approx. 1,5 hours to reach the summit, as you may need to stop and rest along the way. The closer you get to the summit, the steeper it gets.

It also depends on the route taken (varies depending on weather and people).

It takes approx. 1-1,5 hours to get back down.

Do I need to be sporty to complete this hike?

This is considered an intermediate hike, so if you have a reasonable level of fitness, you will reach the summit. It is possible to stop along the way and take small breaks for water and catching your breath.

Is Mt. Batur an active volcano?

At the time of writing, Mt. Batur is an active but quiet volcano. Your safety is our top priority and experts monitor the volcano closely. If there are any warnings, we will cancel the hike.

Venturing up Mount Batur Volcano, nestled within the Kintamani Caldera, ranks as one of Bali’s most sought-after hikes, drawing adventurers of varying fitness levels. With a moderate level of physical prowess, tackling this trek is entirely feasible. On days blessed with clear skies, hikers are treated to awe-inspiring panoramas encompassing the caldera, remnants of volcanic activity from the 1960s, picturesque Lake Batur, and the imposing silhouette of Bali’s highest peak, Mount Agung.

Participants face the choice of embarking on an early morning sunrise expedition, departing from south Bali around 3:30 am, or opting for a more leisurely start around 7:30-8:00 am, necessitating departure from south Bali by 6:00 am.

While some prioritize witnessing the sun’s ascent, others favor the tranquility of a later departure, as many early risers would have begun their descent by then.

Please be advised that by the south Bali area, we are referring to locales such as Kuta, Legian, Seminyak, Kerobokan, Berawa, Canggu, Nusa Dua, Sanur, and similar districts. Should your accommodations lie beyond these regions, please do not hesitate to reach out to us for tailored arrangements.

Included in the excursion is a delightful lunch experience at Oculus Bali, boasting captivating vistas.
