Culture Week – Bali

Monday

On Monday, you will have breakfast and then get an introduction to the Bali traditions and culture. Then you will go on a walking tour of the popular Monkey street and Ubud market. After the visit, you will have lunch and then join a class on introduction to Balinese culture. You will then have an early dinner and leave to witness the traditional Balinese dance show.

Tuesday

  • Balinese Language Class

Thursday

  • Cooking class

Friday

  • Spiritual Tour: we go to visit the famous temple “PuraTirtaEmpul” the holy water temple and you can enjoy a shower with the Holy Water(Late Lunch at the house (Possible to get some snack or drink in the temple)
  • Project meeting

Thus, this Culture Week is packed full of exciting adventures, cultural excursions and interactions. It includes language lessons, visits to various temples around Bali, a walking tour of Ubud and the famous Monkey street, local art and cooking classes, traditional dance shows and flower arranging classes.

During the Culture Week, you will be participating in various activities and will get acquainted with the Balinese culture, study the Balinese language and explore Ubud and its beautiful surrounding areas. Through this week you will experience a traditional Balinese show and challenge your artistic and creative side through traditional Batik Painting and also try out your skills as a cook with a traditional Balinese cooking class.

Finally, you will make a traditional flower offering and offer your creation at one of the most impressive Balinese temples: The Holy Tirta Empul Temple. At this temple, you will also have the opportunity to immerse yourself in Holy Water and pray for good luck.

Get ready for an action-packed week full of exciting adventures, cultural excursions to learn about Balinese culture and getting to know the rest of the group!

Throughout the week, you will get to learn the basics of the Balinese language, explore Ubud and its surrounding areas, learn how to do a Balinese Batik painting and finally immerse in the Balinese culture by receiving real exposure.

Personal belongings such as

  • There is a lot of walking and exploring, so bring with you comfortable shoes so you can move comfortably and easily.
  • Bring Personal toiletries such as basic soap, shampoo, toothpaste and towels.
  • Bring a hat, sunglasses to protect from the heat of the sun particularly during a long day of walking under the heat of the sun..
  • An environmentally friendly sunscreen or lotion is also advised to protect you from the heat of the sun and please carry with you preventive agents during outdoor activities, such as mosquito repellents for insect bites or other insects that may irritate your skin.
  • Moreover, bring Medicines with you especially if you have to take specific medicines on a regular basis as well as other medicines for headaches and stomach aches.
  • Refillable water bottles and hydration packs to stay hydrated throughout the day particularly during exploration and outdoor activities.

Dress Code

  • Indonesia is a Conservative Country, please wear modest clothing covering knees and shoulders. Loose and long clothing is both respectful and tends to keep you cooler in hot climates. Cover up as much as possible in the spirit of the local culture to avoid embarrassment.
  • Your clothes must not be too short, too tight, or too revealing. Kindly make sure your shoulders and legs are covered.
